Apprentices and management trainees from the Stourbridge-based
Western region of Mansell Construction Services are spreading the
word to promote a new companywide safety initiative aimed at making
safety personal.
Zero Harm is a Mansell programme with the aim of completely
eradicating accidents, injuries and long-term health issues from
its many sites. The initiative emphasises personal responsibility
among the company's employees and those of its supply chain
companies.
Now the company has appointed a team of apprentices and
management trainees as ambassadors to deliver the key messages of
Zero Harm to visitors to its Stourbridge office, supply chain
partners and the wider community.
The ambassadors took part in workshops, role-play and mentoring
to train them to deliver the key messages around "Making Safety
Personal". All visitors to Mansell are given information packs and
the ambassadors' contact numbers to call with any questions. They
are also helping with workshops for supply chain partners.
Western Region operations manager Martin Farrell said his young
colleagues were playing a vital role.
"As well as delivering a very important message this initiative
has seen these young people grow in stature and confidence, gain a
better understanding of the business and its priorities, improve
their inter-personal and communication skills and reinforce our
view of their management potential," he said
