Marketing Birmingham has been shortlisted for the 'Best
Operations Team' category of Conference Awards 2010 for its work on
the Rotary International Convention.
The Rotary International Convention was the biggest of its kind
to be held in the UK for two decades and of particular importance
as a centenary event. It took place in Birmingham in June 2009 and
was a massive success for both Rotary International and the city,
achieving over £24 million in economic impact. The success of
the Convention has since cemented Birmingham's position as a global
events city and set the standard for the city's hosting of major
events.
Ian Taylor, commercial director at Marketing Birmingham,
says: "Marketing Birmingham spearheaded a partnership working
approach, ensuring we worked closely with key partners across the
city and region to deliver a successful convention, and provide
delegates with a memorable experience in Birmingham and the wider
area.
"Birmingham was showcased to delegates with welcome branding,
special offers and a host of entertainment both public and private.
Some of these activities also involved citizens, allowing them to
engage with the Convention as well as ensuring it was business as
usual for the city."
The Conference Awards recognise and reward excellence, showcase
innovation and provide a quality benchmark for individuals, teams
and companies in the conference industry. The Awards will be
held in London on Friday 25 June.
