Coventry based, Warwick Conferences chef, Pete Fry has been
awarded with a silver Copper Skillet award from the IACC
(International Association of Conference Centres). The awards
recognize the talent and imagination of chefs from across the IACC
community.
The annual competition aims to find the best chef from its
members, with the winners in each participating country battling it
out to become the overall Copper Skillet Award winner, the best
chef in the IACC.
Following a preliminary round where Pete was required to submit
a written menu with photographs, he was chosen as one of eight
finalists to take part in a 'cook off'. During this final round
each chef was asked to create a single dish from a mystery basket
of ingredients which included fresh produce, grains and three
protein ingredients.
The eight finalists were allowed 15 minutes to develop the menu
for the judges, with just 30 minutes to cook the dish. For Pete's
menu, he produced cajun blackened monkfish, puy lentils topped with
wild mushroom, chorizo and tomato ragout which saw him awarded with
a silver medal.
