Staffordshire house builder Walton Homes has announced that the
winner of its unprecedented £100,000 'Win An Apartment'
competition at Radbrook Rise in Corby is local couple, Mr and Mrs
Jordan.
The high profile competition has been running since 2006 with
all of the original homeowners at Walton Homes' flagship Radbrook
Rise scheme being eligible to enter. The development features 101
houses and apartments, but only 100 plots were available for sale,
with plot 19 - a luxury two bedroom apartment that is currently
being used as the marketing suite for the development - being the
spectacular prize. With a maximum of only 100 entrants being
eligible to win this life-changing prize valued at circa
£100,000, this is the first competition of its kind in the
UK.
Ellen and Paul Jordan (aged 34 and 35 respectively) moved to
Corby in 2006 and have lived in a four bedroom detached home at
Radbrook Rise since last summer. They have two children, Samantha
aged nine and Michael aged three. Despite living there less than a
year, the Jordan family have quickly embraced the active community
spirit at Radbrook Rise and Ellen Jordan works as a child minder
for another family living on the development.
Ellen Jordan said: "Being gifted this lovely two bedroom
apartment by Walton Homes feels like we've won the Lottery!
"When we moved into our dream home at Radbrook Rise last summer,
we were eager to complete the entry form for the Win An Apartment
competition, but we didn't give a second thought as to what our
chances of winning were and what we would do if we did win. This
has come as a complete shock and I have read the official
notification letter so many times I could practically recite it
now. We are so grateful to Walton Homes for running this
competition, winning this prize really will change our lives!
"Our friends and family can't believe our luck and have asked us
what we plan to do with the property. With two young children and
having moved into the home of our dreams last year, we feel it
would be best for us to put the apartment on the market and use the
proceeds to greatly reduce our mortgage. This will give us a lot
more disposable income each month, which will be tremendous for us
as a family."
Andi Summerton, managing director of Walton Homes and Cllr Mary
Butcher, Mayor of Corby visited Radbrook Rise on Wednesday 3rd
March in order to hand over the keys to Mr and Mrs Jordan and
congratulate them on their success.
Andi Summerton commented: "Radbrook Rise is currently one of
Walton Homes' largest residential developments and having 101
apartments and houses, we felt it was fitting to do something very
dramatic to ensure the development always had its place in the
history books. We have been delighted at the rate of sale at
Radbrook Rise and part of the scheme's success can be credited to
the excitement that has surrounded this unprecedented competition,
which was only open to the original purchasers who bought a home
here. Our warmest congratulations go out to the Jordan family!"
In order to enter the competition, the homeowners at Radbrook
Rise were required to complete an entry form with three questions
and a tie-breaker. The questions were as follows;
A. What animal does the Walton Homes logo
depict (a lion)
B. In which city is Walton Homes' head
office based (Lichfield)
C. How many homes in total will be built at
Radbrook Rise (101)
The tie-breaker was; Walton Homes' current slogan is 'A
reputation for style and quality'. In no more than 10 words,
suggest a new slogan for Walton Homes. Mr and Mrs Jordan's winning
slogan was; 'Walton Homes - laying the foundations for your
future.'
Radbrook Rise is located off Gainsborough Road, close to Corby
town centre and within reach of commuter links across the region.
The final few homes are available for sale with a selection of
deals on offer to suit individual requirements. The marketing suite
is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm, tel 01536 407 314.
