A Wellingborough based manufacturer of plastic household
cleaning products has expanded its production facilities thanks to
a Grant for Business Investment (GBI) of £95,000 from East
Midlands Development Agency (emda).
Easy-Do Products Limited was established in 1968 as a
manufacturer and distributor of quality household cleaning
products, sold in leading supermarkets in the UK and overseas. Over
the past five years, the family-run business has concentrated on
the development and manufacture of their 'Dishmatique' range of
products, other household cleaning products and an innovative range
of clothes and food packaging pegs manufactured solely from
recycled plastic known as 'Ecoforce' pegs.
The company is investing almost £905,000 to lease
additional premises in Wellingborough and purchase new injection
moulding lines and other equipment that will increase productive
capacity and efficiency. The grant will support Easy-Do to purchase
the new plant and machinery and increase their range of products
manufactured using 100% recycled materials.
Daniel Neumann, Managing Director of Easy-Do said "Without the
grant from emda we would not have been able to undertake this
investment that will allow us to further develop our innovative
range of recycled products and increase our export markets. We have
an exciting future ahead and have already increased our workforce
by employing an additional six full-time staff and anticipate
taking on more employees as our business grows."
GBI is a capital investment grant scheme aimed at encouraging
businesses to invest in land and buildings, plant and machinery to
support expansion, modernisation and diversification.
John O'Reilly, emda's Business Support Director, said: "I am
delighted that we have been able to support Easy-Do Products
Limited to expand their manufacturing base and invest in new
equipment and people. The success of Easy-Do and other companies
like them are vital for the regional economy as we look to emerge
from the economic downturn."
He added "I would like to encourage other innovative small and
medium-sized companies across the East Midlands, that are
considering capital investment projects that may be eligible for
GBI support, to get in touch."
emda is particularly looking for high quality applications that
demonstrate how companies will improve business productivity and
skills levels; develop new products or processes; maximise
potential opportunities in niche, fast growing or export markets;
or meet the priority sectors and technologies sent out in the
Regional Economic Strategy.
The criteria of the GBI scheme are straightforward and relate to
location, need, the size and type of the business, the nature and
size of the investment, viability and the quality of the project.
In certain areas of the East Midlands, the GBI is also part-funded
by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
