Worcestershire recruitment agency, eResponse Recruitment, has
put employment in the spotlight this week at Studley High School,
after hosting its first employment workshop designed specifically
for high school pupils.
The eResponse Recruitment team visited the High School on Friday
5th March to host a series of workshops, designed to educate
Year 9 pupils with a clearer understanding of the employment
arena.
The workshop covered three main topics - The 'Labour Market' and
its history, what drives the changes in the labour market and what
it will look like during the future;
It also covered 'What Employers Want': expectations, do's and
don'ts, typical recruitment processes and how to people screen; and
finally, 'Begin with the End': an action plan and key points for
students to take away, digest and put into place.
Managing Director of eResponse Recruitment, Paul Alekna
presented the workshop, which he created with Marie Cross (Head of
English) at Studley High for pupils who have two-years of full time
education remaining.
Paul Alekna said "We decided to host this workshop to help give
the students a better understanding of how the world has changed,
and that they will have very different career paths than those of
their parents.
"This recession has left 65% of those aged between 16-18 years
of age not in further education without employment. Due to their
lack of work experience, it is vital to give school children
further support and direction to help them build a better
future.
"Our aim is to ensure these workshops help students to take away
a more in-depth understanding of what changes the labour market and
how new markets emerge and continue to create opportunities for
them in the future".
Head Teacher at Studley High, Elaine Young commented "We are
delighted that eResponse Recruitment have chosen Studley High to
take part in the workshop. With the current employment climate it
is more important than ever to make sure children have a good
understanding of the employment arena."
Due to the success of the workshop, eResponse Recruitment plan
to spread the sessions to other schools in the County over the
course of the year.
