Nottingham based Frontline Recruitment is leading the way in supporting a community garden project in Bulwell and hopes other local firms will follow suit.

Frontline has donated £250 to the Bulwell Hall Community Allotments as the firm was keen to support the project as the chairman, Patrick Duffy, is a long-running temp with the agency as a forklift truck driver.

The allotment has been transformed since Patrick took over the project 18 months ago. Prior to this, the gardens were left to rack and ruin, and it was in a state of disrepair.

Patrick says: "I live just around the corner from the gardens and I was starting to get more concerned about how they were being looked after, or not, as the case may be. When I took over there was a lot of work to be done. We had a lot of help from local residents and also the probation service. Now the area is no longer overgrown and we have started to plant flowers and vegetables. We have a greenhouse, a garden shop, a children's area and a disabled area.

"We run solely on funding from local businesses and grants from the local authorities, so any help we receive is always really appreciated. My next goal is to concrete all the paths throughout the allotment to make it easier to get round for disabled users. I am really grateful that Frontline is supporting us, hopefully they will be an example to others to help us too."

Tony Wilmot, partner at Frontline said: "We are always looking for local projects or charities that we can support. The community allotments seemed like the ideal project as Patrick has been employed on a regular basis with us for the past couple of years, and we are always happy to support our staff and temps in anyway we can. We hope they can put the money and equipment to good use."

Frontline provides both temporary and permanent recruitment solutions to a variety of industries, including the public sector, manufacturing and production, warehouse and distribution, domestic services and packaging. The Midlands firm has offices across the region in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Mansfield and Bradford. It also has staff based on site at client offices.
