it out for charity
Two teams of peak performers from Mansell Construction overcame
a mountainous challenge to scale the highest mountains in England,
Scotland and Wales and raise cash for charity.
The two teams from Mansell's Stourbridge-based Western region,
including regional managing director Steve Davies, successfully
completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, scaling the heights
of Britain's highest peaks.
Team One completed the challenge in just 18 hours and 41
minutes, securing a gold medal. Team Two completed in 22 hours and
six minutes, earning a bronze medal, and missing out on silver by
just six minutes.
The teams scaled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Each team
consisted of five climbers plus drivers.
Their exploits, along with support from more than 20 of
Mansell's supply chain partners, raised more than £5000 for
Action Heart, Diabetes UK, Derby Hospital Charitable Trust for Head
and Neck Cancer Treatment and the Fire Fighters Charity.
Taking part in the challenge in Team One were Mark Boland
(captain), Steve Wedge, Steve Oldacre, Peter Rew and Tom Pearson
with drivers John Henman, Steve Marsh and Simon Kydd. Team Two was
made up of Dean Howard (captain), Steve Davies, Greg Hopkins, Neil
Turney, Mick Brennan, Gerry Iafrati and Chris Bissell with drivers
Andy Price and roofing sub-contractor Oliver Beaumont.
Mansell regional managing director Steve Davies said, "This was
another fantastic team effort following on from our gold medal
achievement last year. For Team One to get the gold was tremendous
- and the real pleasure is in having been able to raise money for
our very good and deserving causes."
