Entrepreneurs appear in popular media as much as in business
journals these days, from Alan Sugar to Peter Jones, so it's easy
to assume that enterprise activity is readily understood and
accessible to all. But is it? Or should it be?
The 'Enterprise For All?' conference will address the 'golden
thread of enterprise' on Friday 31 March at the East Midlands
Conference Centre.
Organised by Unleashing Enterprise, the East Midlands
Development Agency (emda) supported programme, the free event is
open to anyone involved in enterprise as well as those wanting to
learn more about the enterprise agenda.
Enterprise For All? will highlight the latest enterprise policy
developments and the event will showcase examples of successful
enterprise practitioners.
Participants will also be able to take part in a wide range of
workshops, covering the full spectrum of enterprise activity in the
East Midlands, including enterprise education in primary schools,
to enterprise coaching in disadvantaged communities.
Chris Shaw, Regional Manager for Unleashing Enterprise said:
"It's an exciting time for people working in enterprise, and emda
is leading the development of the regional skills strategy with
enterprise skills to feature as a key strand. We want this
conference to be stimulating and challenging so we'll be asking a
few pertinent questions of a range of enterprising
speakers.
"We also want to highlight some of the excellent work that is
taking place across the region and helping to further the East
Midlands presence on the national enterprise map."
Andrew Morgan, Skills and Communities Director at emda added:
"There is increasing recognition across many areas of society,
education, communities and in businesses of the importance of
helping a wide range of individuals develop their enterprise
capability. This is important in helping people adapt to change,
identify opportunities and take action - steps that are critical to
embracing an enterprise culture and enabling the East Midlands to
build its economic potential and develop active, sustainable
communities. This event will showcase some of the excellent work
that is taking place across the region in these areas and help to
assess what more needs to be done to drive the enterprise agenda
forward."
Keynote speakers at the conference include Mike Chitty,
entrepreneur and author of the BLOG, 'Enterprise &
Entrepreneurship in the Community'; Andrew Morgan, emda's Skills
and Communities Director; Toby Reid, Nottingham based entrepreneur
and founder of business reality website www.inafishbowl.com;
Charles Cracknell, Employment and Youth Enterprise Manager, Hull
City Council and Stephen Hobbs, Director of Education, The Working
Knowledge Group.
