Business leaders in Birmingham and Solihull are urging the Bank
of England to continue to create conditions which make a
business-led recovery more viable.
Birmingham and Solihull Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCI)
welcomed the announcement by the Office for National Statistics
(ONS) that the annual rate of consumer price inflation fell to 3
per cent in February, from 3.5 per cent the previous
month.
Will Rogers, policy adviser at BCI said: "In order to sustain
recovery, it is vital that the government assists firms to find new
export markets and cancel the planned one per cent rise in employer
National Insurance contributions, scheduled to take effect in April
2011.
"Today's announcement should not detract from the overall
picture which suggests that businesses still face serious
issues."
