The finalists for East Midlands Development Agency's (emda)
HighGrowth East Midlands Awards 2010 have been announced.
The awards will recognise the successes of the regional
companies that which have taken part in emda's flagship business
support programme, HighGrowth East Midlands.
The Finalists are:
Better Languages - Bingham, Nottingham
Esendex Limited - Nottingham
Carter Brown Associates - Mansfield, North Nottinghamshire
DDC Outsourcing Solutions - Worksop, North
Nottinghamshire
Rieke Packaging Systems Limited - Leicester
Heat Transfer Systems - High Peak, Derbyshire
Quadralene (including Teknon and Dentisan) - Derby
Derby based Quadralene is a manufacturer of high performance
detergents and disinfectants into the healthcare and dentistry
markets. Since taking part in the High Growth programme the company
has produced several new products and brands, entering a new
market, with the scope to create more. According to Managing
Director Andrew Corley "The scheme has also encouraged and
reinforced Quadralene's core values and focus, and has helped to
improve cash flow, shrink debts and maintain outstanding service
levels".
Rieke Packaging Systems based in Leicester, specialises in the
design, development and manufacture of packaging. 2009 was the most
successful year in the company's history, and the HighGrowth
programme helped to develop a team that can sustain the growth as
it moves forward. Mark Box, Managing Director, said: "The coaching
we have received from the programme has challenged us to address
issues we have put off repeatedly and also has provided focus to
our strategic thinking".
Nottingham based Esendex Limited specialises in
telecommunications, and is the UK's leading provider of business
SMS services. Since taking part in the HighGrowth programme, the
company has formalised its management team which has been able to
aid the development of a new strategy for its global market. One of
the company's founders and Managing Directors, Julian Hucker, said:
"This has proven to be more rewarding for the team members and has
freed up our team to continue to look at new
opportunities."
All companies which took part in the Growth Readiness and High
Growth programmes during 2009 were invited to enter, providing an
excellent opportunity for businesses to demonstrate their growth
and ambition to important stakeholders.
Applicants were assessed on their leadership and business
commitment, innovation and demonstration of growth through the
programme. The independent judges consist of a panel of assessors
with expertise from a wide range of businesses.
The award categories are:
• Growth Readiness - which recognises outstanding growth
potential in business on the Growth Readiness programme
• High Growth - which recognises the same achievements by
businesses on the High Growth programme
• HighGrowth East Midlands Business of the Year - which
recognises exemplary performance in growth potential or achieving
and sustaining high growth
There is also The Growth Enabler Professional Excellence award
which recognises the professional excellence of coaches and
business advisers in the Growth Enabler programme. This award,
which was only open to participants involved in the Programme, is
delivered by the Centre for Excellence in Business Coaching and
Consulting (Cfex). Finalists are:

David Charlton, TDH Partners Limited- Nottinghamshire
Launched in January 2008, more than 160 companies from across
the East Midlands are currently participating in HighGrowth East
Midlands. Comprising of two programmes, Growth Readiness and High
Growth, it is designed to increase profits, enhance competitiveness
and create the conditions for long-term success. For many
participants, it is providing the extra bit of help that businesses
need to turn the challenges of the current economic climate into
opportunities for growth.
Mike Carr, emda's Executive Director of Business Services,
participated in this year's judging panel. He said: "HighGrowth
East Midlands represents some of the region's growing talents, and
I am pleased to be taking part in this opportunity to celebrate
their achievements. Designed to help East Midlands businesses
achieve their full potential and to create long term wealth and
jobs, HighGrowth East Midlands is helping emda achieve its strategy
of creating a flourishing region."
The ceremony will be held at The Nottingham Belfry on 11th March
2010. All companies that have participated in the HighGrowth
East Midlands scheme are welcome along with the 7 finalists. emda's
Chairman, Bryan Jackson will be speaking at the awards on behalf of
emda, along with key note speaker Kavita Oberoi and the BBC's Anne
Davis, who will be hosting the event.
