Nottingham-based Domestic & General (D&G) has been
shortlisted for a national award for the way it recruits mature
workers.
The call centre, based on Talbot Street in the city centre, has
been shortlisted in the 'Best Diversity Recruitment Strategy'
category in The Recruiter magazine's annual awards.
D&G is renowned for its age positive employment practices
and has already won an internal AARP International Innovative
Employers award (for the second year running) in the last few
months for the way it recruits and retains older people.
Tracy Burrell, HR manager at D&G says: "We are delighted to
have been shortlisted for this award. The Recruiter is a highly
thought of publication and to be once again recognised on a
national platform is fantastic for us. It is amazing that we are
being seen for what we do and that we have impressed the judges
with our commitment to being age positive.
"When people ring into D&G, it's often because they have an
appliance which is faulty, or because they need technical support
from us. Our organisation is about helping people, resolving
problems and that is why we have a lot of success with mature
workers because they have empathy and shared experiences with our
clients."
The HR team at D&G will find out if they have been
successful at an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on
14th April 2010, when the winners in each category will be
announced.
