The title of Dudley Business Brain 2010 at Dudley and District
Business Club has been taken by Bryan Manley of Alchemy
Translations.
Experienced business brains among members vied for the title at
the inaugural Dudley Business Brain Quiz.
Bryan, a long standing member of the Dudley and District
Business Club, is the owner of a translations company.
He said: "It is vital to keep abreast of a wide range of
subjects, including business terminology. Many of the questions
were abbreviations, a nightmare for translators as they have many
meanings - for example, "ROI" could have been Republic of Ireland,
but was Return on Investment."
Bryan clinched his victory with the tie break question on the
closing level of the FTSE, which Bryan pinpointed to within 7
points. He said he was also pleased that Oldbury, where Alchemy
Translations is based, was included as "and District" for the club,
which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
Members are urging new businesses to join, to benefit all
members with support and foster partnerships.
Stuart Price, chairman of Dudley and District Business Club,
said: "This showed what a bright bunch we have at Dudley and
District Business Club.
"Our meetings are for anyone who wants an innovative, but fun
night: as an antidote to recession anxieties, together we're
stronger."
Dudley and District Business Club welcomes owners from
self-employed to companies employing up to 20 people, covering most
trades and professions.
The club also provides a vital service to aid new start-ups, and
membership of DDBC is very beneficial, helping them via others'
experiences.
The Club's next monthly meeting, at Hagley Golf Club, will
feature its AGM at 7pm on Tuesday April 20, followed by Open
Networking. It is held at Hagley Golf Club, Wassell Grove Lane,
Hagley.
The club, membership just £25 a year, meets the third
Tuesday of each month, over a hot supper, for networking. A small
charge is made for the evening, and booking is essential via the on
line booking form at www.ddbc.co.uk
