Birmingham-based Trebor Developments has announced it is forging
ahead with two major public sector projects, putting the developer
in pole position for a successful 2010.
Trebor Developments and Wrenbridge Land Limited are currently
working in partnership with landowner Dacorum Borough Council on a
three acre innovation and industrial scheme which forms part of
Axis Point in Hemel Hempstead. The key regeneration project is
located a mile from the M1 motorway and has benefited from grant
funding through the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
Planning consent has been secured for the latest phase of Axis
Point and demolition of the existing buildings on the site has
recently commenced. Construction is set to get under way on the new
52,900 sq ft office/ industrial development in spring, and the
scheme is therefore on track to become one of the very few
speculative developments to be progressed across the UK in 2010.
A new innovation centre and incubation units are scheduled
for completion before the end of the year, and planning consent has
also been granted for an additional 28,000 sq ft industrial unit at
Axis Point, which is being marketed to prospective occupiers.
Elsewhere in the UK, Trebor Developments has formed part of team
including property consultancy Savills and Pick Everard on a
project for Cambridgeshire Police Authority.
Trebor Developments has been appointed to review site
acquisition options for a multi-million pound Southern Division
Headquarters. The major new facility will incorporate custodial as
well as high quality office accommodation, and will be funded by
the Police Authority on a freehold basis. The Police Authority will
relocate from its existing divisional headquarters in the Parkside
area of Cambridge to the new scheme.
Working in conjunction with Savills' Cambridge office, Trebor
Developments is also providing specialist support in advising the
Police Authority on the disposal and future development of its
existing Parkside site, which is located in one of the most
prominent locations in Cambridge city centre.
Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner for Trebor, commented: "It is
incredibly satisfying to be involved in the progress of two key
regeneration projects; and to be in such a strong a position at the
beginning of 2010 demonstrates the ability of Trebor Developments
to bring forward public sector schemes in partnership on a fast
track basis.
"From our base at the Innovation Centre at Longbridge Technology
Park, our extensive development experience is being increasingly
recognised; and Trebor Developments has been given the opportunity
to work closely with a number of highly credible partners. These
two large and complex projects will further boost our reputation
for delivering value for money, sustainable and highly flexible
accommodation for public sector clients".
Cllr Ian Reay, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration at
Dacorum Borough Council, commented on the Axis Point project. He
said: "It's fantastic to see progress on this development that is a
key part of our work to make Hemel Hempstead a destination of
choice for businesses. As well as supporting the local business
community it will also provide first premises for those starting
out with shared facilities to encourage businesses to grow. Its
green credentials also reflect the Council's commitment to making
buildings sustainable and sets the standard for future developments
to follow."
