Mansell Construction laid on a skills day at one of its biggest
building projects in a bid to give youngsters hands-on experience
of the construction industry.
The company held a special one-day event at the Pathfinder
regeneration project site compound in Peters Street, West Bromwich,
and invited BTEC construction students from Wodensborough Community
College to see what was going on.
Mansell laid on "taster" demonstrations in a special tent where
youngsters could try their hand at plumbing, carpentry, electrical
work, bricklaying, tiling, rendering and plastering. The pupils
watched Mansell experts at their trade before having a go
themselves.

Riverside, building new homes and refurbishing others on estates in
West Bromwich on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
Mansell Western region partnership housing manager, Simon
Liversage said, "We understand the importance of getting over the
message that the construction industry can be exciting. We have to
enthuse youngsters, so it was great for them to be able to try the
range of construction skills for themselves in a safe
environment."
