Rico Mexican Kitchen is spicing up its prospects by becoming
part of an exciting new East Midlands reality web project
www.inafishbowl.com, which has just announced seed investment from
the East Midlands Early Growth Fund; a venture capital fund
financed by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda).
In A Fishbowl Ltd was launched late last year by entrepreneur
Toby Reid and 'East Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year 2008' award
winner Andrew Springhall.
www.inafishbowl.com is a new website which profiles the
trials and tribulations of three start-up businesses from across
the East Midlands. Filmed through different stages and broadcast on
the site, viewers can learn the lessons of starting a business
through observing other start-ups in real-time through video, blogs
and Twitter.
Belper-based entrepreneur, Marcela Flores Newburn's Rico Mexican
Kitchen business has been signed up as one of the three start-ups
to first feature on the site.
Marcela will be filmed through different stages of her business
and the content broadcasted on www.inafishbowl.com using twitter,
live blogs and video feeds. Over time each business will receive
advice from celebrity entrepreneurs, business experts and members
of the public.
Mother-of-two Marcela, who makes all of the authentic Mexican
products in her range by hand, is excited about becoming part of
the concept. She commented: "I'm looking forward to this
opportunity. It's a great concept and will be really useful for
other entrepreneurs in the beginning stages of starting a business.
I hope that we can really learn a lot from this experience and I'm
excited about the awareness it might bring for Rico Mexican
Kitchen."
Founder of www.inafishbowl.com, Toby Reid commented: "This is a
great initiative for new business start-ups as they get to learn
through other people's experiences on the website. Everyone
involved in the project has started their own business, so we know
the difficulties involved in the process.
"We all share the view 'if only I knew then what I know now!'
The service is designed to provide empathy, learning and motivation
to others in a similar position. Rico Mexican Kitchen is still very
much a start-up business but its future is bright. This is going to
be a very interesting time for them."
Rob Cawdron of fund manager E-Synergy who provided the seed
investment commented, "www.inafishbowl.com combines business
education with the real life trials and tribulations of a real
start-up in real time. We look forward to watching the venture
become a compulsive media phenomenon. In media terms, we have
likened it to Big Brother meets The Apprentice. The reality is that
it is of much more practical use to potential, first time and
serial early stage entrepreneurs. Once the concept is established
it should go on to appeal to a much wider audience."
