Cedar House Investments, one of the region's leading developers,
has now set its sights on the Waterside regeneration zone.
Peter Gadsby, chairman of Cedar House, is one of Nottingham's
most prolific developers, spearheading major regeneration schemes
throughout the city. He was behind the £200 million Phoenix
Centre scheme at Cinderhill and also the premier development Ng2
which created 5,000 jobs, and brought such names as Experian,
Speedo and The Bank of England to Nottingham.
Cedar House has turned its attention to Nottingham's Waterside
and submitted a planning application for a key landmark site
purchased back in 2007 as a strategic acquisition. The company is
seeking planning permission to transform the former five-acre
Sunlight Laundry in Daleside Road to high quality retail, office
and leisure space.
Mr Gadsby said: "This scheme will facilitate investment in
Waterside. The ambitious retail development we are proposing is
much needed for the people of Sneinton to inject vibrancy into the
area. We believe the scheme will initiate the transformation of
Waterside and will be the catalyst for regeneration. We expect the
scheme to provide more than 300 jobs, together with a further 200
construction jobs".
The development comprises 30,000 sq ft retail development
together with an additional mix of office and leisure
facilities.
The planning application for the £25 million scheme,
follows a detailed public consultation where more than 100 people
gave their opinions for the proposed plans.
Chris Carlisle, Cedar House managing director, said: "Our
proposals were well received. There was unanimous support for
better quality shopping facilities to serve Sneinton residents. The
opportunity for the creation of jobs for local people was also
welcomed."
Mr Gadsby added: "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be
part of this major project which is expected to kick-start the
Waterside regeneration area, facilitating investments in this part
of the city.
"The development is expected to attract high-quality occupiers
to Waterside."
John Rhodes, development director at Trent Park Developments
Limited, heads the impressive Riverside Crescent development in
Colwick. He said: "A retail development of this type is crucial for
this area. There is a real lack of facilities that people can walk
to."
