Law firm Weightmans is expanding its corporate offering in the
Midlands with the appointment of Philip Heath as partner.
Philip joins from Shoosmiths where he has been a partner since
2008. Philip specialises in corporate governance and regulation,
particularly in the social housing sector. Philip plans to continue
this work and collaborate on corporate governance projects for the
firm's extensive range of public sector clients.
In the 2009 UK Chambers guide, clients have rated Philip an
'exceptional player' who is credited with being 'quick to deliver
results for his clients.' The guide puts him in band 1 for social
housing in the West Midlands.
Of the appointment John Schorah, head of Commercial at
Weightmans commented: "We are delighted to welcome Philip to
the team. Since establishing a corporate offering in Birmingham
last year we have developed a strong client base in the region,
despite challenging market conditions.
"Philip's appointment is part of a firm wide strategy to provide
an overarching service that meets client demand."
Weightmans was recently appointed to the London Boroughs Legal
Alliance (LBLA) consortium panel which John says demonstrates the
firm's commitment and ability to provide corporate services to the
public sector.
Philip said of his decision to join Weightmans: "I was impressed
with the firm's experience and growing reputation for public sector
work. Hopefully, my expertise will add a new string to our bow in
the region and of course to the benefit of Weightmans' clients
nationally."
