Lincolnshire people looking for the very latest vision care can
now have their eyes examined by a new 3D state-of-the-art scanning
instrument at David Burghardt Vision Care.
The Nettleham practice has invested £58,000 in the
high-tech equipment which makes it easier to detect early signs of
glaucoma, diabetes, retinal hemorrhages and macular degeneration
along with other serious eye conditions.
The advanced Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) diagnostic unit,
the only one of its kind in Lincolnshire, works by scanning the eye
to produce a high resolution 3D cross-section image of its inner
and outer layers.
This gives optometrists, such as clinical director David
Burghardt, an in-depth tiered view of the eye which helps to
identify any defects or abnormalities that could go unseen by more
traditional photograph-based examinations.
David said: "Many instruments take a photograph of the eye which
gives a surface view of the retina but through this new technology
we can see each layer of tissue to pinpoint any issues.
"It improves our early diagnosis capabilities and means we are
able to treat or refer patients quickly when needed."
At David Burghardt Vision Care all eye examinations include
tests using the new OCT machine, ensuring customers receive a
thorough examination.
"This is the very latest OCT machine available and we're proud
to be offering it to provide our customers with the best in sight
care," added David. "It will complement our already comprehensive
eye examination processes."
