London's loss is the Second City's gain following the arrival of
tax expert Chris Bond.
He has transferred to the Birmingham office of accountants and
business advisers PKF and been promoted to tax director.
Mr Bond said: "It is a great move for me and very much a case of
hitting the ground running.
"Tax can be a minefield for companies large and small, but is a
vitally important area which business needs to get right. Otherwise
it is as good as giving money away.
"My role in Birmingham is to head up and manage the local
corporate tax team and to focus on making sure that we deliver a
timely, cost efficient and pro-active service. This will involve
concentrating on the opportunities that exist for local owner
managed businesses to reduce their overall tax burden and the
issues that they face in today's complicated and ever changing
world of regulation.
"I will be looking to grow the practice's corporate client base
and in particular assisting those clients that are looking to
expand overseas given the increasing need to make the best use of
the global market place."
Mr Bond has more than 20 years tax experience.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, he trained with
Grant Thornton in Milton Keynes.
He joined PKF in January 2007 in London as a Senior Manager,
dealing mainly with large corporates.
His specialist areas include automotive, retail, manufacturing
and international tax planning.
He noted: "I am also looking forward to working with the car
industry and manufacturers - sectors which have long been the
bedrock of the Midlands economy.
"Both are under immense pressure and we certainly hope to play a
supportive role in helping them emerge from the recession and take
advantage of any upturn."
