A new Learning and Development Unit (LDU) within the
internationally-renowned Institute of Community Cohesion (iCoCo) is
to be launched next month in Coventry.
The free event is open to key decision makers across public and
private sector teams from Human Resources, Training and
Development, Equality and Diversity and similar areas of
interest.
The launch, and exclusive one day event, takes place on
Wednesday 24 February and is open to professionals who want to know
more about Community Cohesion and how it affects them.
The theme of the day will be Community Cohesion: Are you meeting
your statutory requirements?
The iCoCo LDU is the training arm of the Institute of Community
Cohesion and provides bespoke training in all aspects of community
cohesion. This includes master classes, seminars, conferences and
awareness training.
Already lined up as guest speakers on the day, are Professor Ted
Cantle, CBE, Associate Director at the IDeA and Executive Chair of
iCoCo and Rachel Osikoya, Director, Global Head of Diversity
Inclusion and CSR at Standard Bank.
Professor Cantle was appointed by the Home Secretary to Chair
the Community Cohesion Review Team in 2001 and to lead the review
on the causes of the summer disturbances in a number of northern
towns and cities.
His findings in "The Cantle Report" made 70 recommendations and
his concept of community cohesion was subsequently adopted by the
Government.
Rachel Osikoya was previously Head of EU Diversity at Barclays
Capital and Head of Diversity at BT Global Services. As Head of
Diversity for Europe at Barclays, Rachel was responsible for the
progression of the diversity agenda across Europe. Her significant
experience gives her a unique perspective regarding diversity in
the workplace.
As spaces are limited for the event, it is advisable to book a
place as early as possible.
Leanne de Main, from iCoCo's LDU said: "This is an ideal
opportunity to learn more about community cohesion in relation to
your workforce both in the public and private sector. We recognise
that different organisations have different development needs and
based on our experience, we can agree the best approach and deliver
the required training and support. Our training packages are
tailored to meet the needs of the individuals and
organisations.
"This event also presents a wonderful opportunity to network
with fellow professionals and take part in discussion groups and
trial training sessions."
More guest speakers will be announced nearer the launch
event.
As spaces are limited, anyone interesting in attending should
contact Leanne de Main by Friday 29 January either by calling 024
