In its February auction, Nottingham agent Heb will be
selling 10 East Midlands pubs.
On 16 February heb will be auctioning off Ship Inn in Spalding -
located on the busy A17, and Ship Inn in High Street, Billinghay.
Both pubs pose great opportunities for buyers wanting to create
lively public houses in busy locations, said Matt Hilton,
auctioneer for heb.
Other pubs going under the hammer are the Sir Charles Napier at
Langley Mill, a pub in a residential area with a guide price of
£95,000, and Miners Arms in Grassmoor, Chesterfield - a
community pub in a main road location with a guide price of around
£110,000.
At Worksop, the French Horn Hotel in Potter Street has a
£150,000 guide price. An imposing and striking
Victorian building close to the town centre, it may suit
alternative uses, says Matt.
In Alfreton, Derbyshire, heb will be putting The Rifle Volunteer
under the hammer. The pub has a large corner site and has a guide
price of £315,000. At Swadlincote, heb will be selling the
Cottage Inn with a guide price of around £140,000.
Further north, heb will be putting the Ropewalk pub in Grimsby
under the hammer. A community pub in a residential area, it comes
with a guide price of £95,000.
In Nottinghamshire, The Nottingham Arms in Radford is expected
to attract swift bidding, as is the Black Boy Inn in Retford - a
substantial three-storey public house in a main road location.
heb has sold a number of pubs in the East Midlands and for a
variety of uses.
Matt said: "It is important to stress that there is still
activity in the existing use market. We sold the St Vincent Arms in
Norton Disney, Lincolnshire which has been renovated and maintained
as a pub, and we sold The Crossroads pub at East Barkwith as a
going concern for an undisclosed fee."
"The number of properties being sold at auction nationally
increased in 2009 as both buyers and sellers could see the benefit
of the method of sale. It's quick, simple and in, my experience,
very effective," says Matt.
"In the last 12 months, there has definitely been an improvement
in the market, the number of enquiries was markedly up for our last
sale. We have five planned sales for 2010 and expect big interest
on 16 February."
The heb auction will take place on 16 February 2010 at
Nottingham Belfry Hotel, Mellors Way, Nottingham at 2.30pm. For
