Midlands telecommunications company Solwise Telephony has been
acquired by Scottish telecoms group Pinnacle in a half million
pound deal which will strengthen Solwise and accelerate its
business growth.
The Pinnacle Telecom Group plc, with offices in Stirlingshire,
Paisley, Northampton and London, has acquired the entire share
capital of Solwise Telephony Ltd of Hinckley along with its
subsidiary Sipswitch Ltd.
The deal will give Solwise Telephony's 600 customers access to
additional leading-edge technology, new products and capability. It
will also provide the opportunity to accelerate the company's
growth which has seen it burst through the million pound turnover
level.
Over the last 10 years Solwise Telephony has built a reputation
for supplying businesses with competitive telephone, broadband and
web services backed by high levels of customer service. Over the
last two years the company has also become a national supplier for
short-term telephone services to festivals and events ranging from
the Chelsea Flower Show to the Glastonbury Festival. Solwise has
also supplied single telephones over a weekend for small
events.
Solwise Telephony has spent six years developing the unique
Sipswitch telephone system that uses high quality data lines
instead of standard BT lines. Call quality can be guaranteed, and
the system brings both cash savings and improved productivity to
businesses. The Sipswitch system will now be available to all
Pinnacle and Solwise customers.
All of Solwise Telephony's employees are being retained, and
will be working with Pinnacle on next generation telephony
platforms and other business communications systems.
Pinnacle chief executive Alan Bonner said Solwise Telephony
brings to Pinnacle an excellent team of people and a highly
complementary business.
"We are looking forward to working with the Solwise Telephony
team, all of whom are staying with the business post completion.
Cross-selling multiple services to our customers is a key feature
of our strategy which will be enhanced by this acquisition."
Solwise Telephony managing director Martin Stephenson said the
acquisition brings two key benefits to the business: it will expand
the company's range of products to include supporting traditional
telephone systems and mobile phone products. In addition the group
will find more customers and applications for the new Sipswitch
telephone system.
"This is a great move for Solwise Telephony and we look forward
to working with Pinnacle. The biggest beneficiaries of this deal
will be the group's customers, and we plan to offer them additional
and enhanced services," he said.
Solwise Telephony was established in 1999 as a supplier of
discounted line rental and calls. It has since developed its
business through technological innovation to become an internet
service provider and can now offer state-of-the-art digital
telephone systems and business data connections.
Solwise also supplies access to services such as telephone
numbers from any part of the UK, voicemail, call conferencing and
call recording.
