Engineering company Hawk Industries, one of the UK's largest
independent turned parts manufacturers, has moved into Studley to a
factory that will enable it to consolidate recent expansion.
In a deal with landlords Pall Mall Investments, arranged by
business property consultants John Truslove, the company has signed
a nine-year lease for 1 and 2 Royal Victoria Works, Birmingham
Road, Studley.
General Manager Stuart Mckenzie said: "We were based on the
Washford Industrial Estate in Redditch for a year having acquired
the assets of JP Olives.
"The building needed modernising so John Truslove found us an
ideal new site from where could grow the business and take our
workforce of 15 people with us.
"We are investing in more automated machinery in the new space
available and we expect this to increase our production
capacity.
"Currently we are shipping our precision-made parts all over the
world and these include - but are not limited to - olives, inserts,
fasteners, nuts, split rings and liners, produced to client
specification in a wide range of materials including brass, DZR
brass, copper, steel, stainless steel and industrial plastics.
"Our very high speed multi-spindle automatics cover spindle
capacities from 2mm up to 80mm diameter together with various
"second op" items of machinery.
"This gives us the capacity to do very small or very extensive
production runs.
We can also offer a range of finishing options, including zinc
and nickel plating, bright dipping, heat treatment and character
marking.
"Hawk Industries has achieved success at a time when some
sections of the British engineering industry are finding the
climate tough.
"We are growing because we focus on quality, adaptability and
flexibility to a largely bespoke market - as well as concentrating
of course on competitive pricing in a hard market."
Ian Parker of John Truslove said: "It is a loss for Redditch to
lose Hawk Industries, a leading British company in its field, but
we were delighted to be able to relocate the business to Studley
and avoid major disruption to its workforce and suppliers.
"At Victoria Works Hawk Industries will be in an ideal
environment to take on new overseas markets and move into a new
cycle of its growth."
