Groove Academy one of North Staffordshire's leading Dance
Schools will have all of their customers dancing with a difference
this week, in aid of the homeless in North Staffordshire this
week.
Groove Academy is raising the profile of the plight of the
homeless in Staffordshire by encouraging their Salsa and Rock n
Roll dancers, to do it in their slippers. Each night Groove
Academy will then donate 50% of the takings to the charity.
After hearing a presentation given by charity fund raiser, Ray
Elks from ARCH about the unfortunate position of some of the local
people the charity supports including victims of domestic violence,
Kate Beauchamp of Groove Academy decided that as a business based
in Staffordshire, the least they could do was to give support to
the needy in the same area.
'I couldn't believe the sad stories of circumstance that have
brought people to the position of being homeless. It can be
pride rather than someone being irresponsible with money that stops
people from asking for help when times get tough' says business
owner Kate Beauchamp.
The dance classes in Cannock, Stafford, Stone, Newcastle,
Uttoxeter and Leek will all have the theme of 'dancing in your
slippers' between Monday 25th to Sunday 31st January. 'I have asked
everyone to carry out a risk assessment on their slippers as I
don't want to see a 'Mr Men' slipper abandon in the middle of the
dance floor or a stray 'Homer Simpson' spinning off on his own.'
says Kate Beauchamp.
If anyone would like to join in the fund raising event, class
details can be found on the Groove Academy web site
