IT'S A once in a lifetime chance - the opportunity for keen
boaters to snap up their own piece of the River Trent at
auction.
Keen fishermen, boaters or those who just fancy living by the
water could be interested in buying the stretch of river with
fishing rights and mooring points at Fiskerton Wharf at Fiskerton,
near Southwell.
The lot will be auctioned off by Nottingham agent heb in
January. It includes just under 0.5 acres of land adjacent to the
river - and a former warehouse with granary, part-converted into a
residential dwelling, office and warehouse.
The river, land and buildings - which have a guide price
of £300,000 - includes around 200ft of river frontage with
pontoon and mooring for several boats. Included are fishing rights
for the Trent.
"It's not often someone has the opportunity to buy part of the
River Trent and we think it will attract a lot of bids, but all the
lots represent exciting opportunities for developers with vision,
said heb's Matt Hilton, who heads the auctions
department.
"It's not every day we get a piece of the River Trent to sell -
as well as boating and fishing rights included. The site is
directly next to the Bromley Arms, the really popular riverside pub
which is incredibly busy all year round. All in all, this is a
great spot in the Nottinghamshire countryside."
Fiskerton is on the west bank of the River Trent, about five
miles south east of Southwell. Up until the 1950s, there was a
ferry boat service across the Trent at Stoke Field nearby.
Fiskerton Mill lies on the River Greet only a few hundred yards
upstream from its junction with the Trent.
Fiskerton's village location makes it a magnet in the summer m
onths for walkers, picnickers and visitors. The landlord reputedly
does boat trips on the river on request.
Early this year, heb sold another piece of the Trent under
Clifton Bridge, Nottingham which sold with a guide price of
£270,000 to the University of Nottingham.
The lot will go under the hammer on 16 February 2010 at
Nottingham Belfry Hotel, Mellors Way, Nottingham at 2.30pm. For
