Enjoy Christmas early at Shugborough

Shugborough's famous Candlelit Christmas Evenings are proving so popular, the estate is encouraging visitors to come and enjoy the experience as early as possible.

More than 6,000 tickets to the traditional festive experience this week have been sold in advance and the final evening, the Saturday night, will officially be declared a sell out today (Monday December 1).

With Friday night proving popular as well, visitors are being urged to enjoy the event earlier on Wednesday and Thursday or to book their tickets for Friday as soon as possible. Discounted tickets for all three weekday nights are available to buy before 1pm in the afternoon of each evening event.

Every year the Shugborough mansion house is filled with fresh flowers and enhanced by the lights of hundreds of candles. The servants' Quarters is also decorated and costumed characters from ladies in crinolines to humble maids will be entertaining visitors.

The event also boasts real reindeer, snow showers, Father Christmas and traditional entertainment including brass bands and choirs. There is also a gift marquee for people keen to snap up a Christmas bargain.

Operations Manager Steve Dodd said: "It is looking like this year's Candlelit Christmas Evenings will be the icing on the cake for a bumper year at Shugborough.

"We've had sell out evenings at our summer movie nights and Halloween Spooktacular and also enjoyed increased visitor numbers throughout the year. We really feel that we've presented a programme of fantastic and popular entertainment during 2009 and the Christmas Evenings will be better than ever."

The spectacular Shugborough Candlelit Christmas Evenings are open from December 2-5 from 5pm until 9pm. Discounted advance tickets can be bought up until 1pm on the day of your chosen evening by calling 0845 459 8900.

Ticket prices are adults £12 (£10 in advance), concessions £9.50 (£7.50 in advance), child £7 (£5 in advance), family (two adults and up to three children) £30 (£26 in advance) and a one adult and one child family is £15 (£13 in advance). Under fives are free.

In addition to the renowned candlelit evenings the estate is also running two Santa at the farm weekends on12 and 13th and 19th and 20th December.
