Lakeside Arts Centre has reason to celebrate this year after
achieving great success at its annual craftmakers market,
Lustre.
Over 4,700 people visited Lustre over the weekend in November,
an increase of 700 people from the previous year. The sales figures
were up as well, with total credit card sales rising by over 50 per
cent from the previous year.
Neil Walker, visual arts officer at Lakeside, said: "We are
absolutely delighted with the results of this years Lustre. It has
exceeded all expectations and goes to show that in a recession
people are still buying.
"Lustre offers a great opportunity for customers to purchase
quality goods before Christmas and it seems this year we have had
visitors from not just the East Midlands but all over the country.
This is excellent for Nottingham as Lustre has clearly established
itself on the map."

Now in its tenth year, Lustre is the largest and most
sophisticated event of its kind outside London. An expert selection
panel chooses around 55 designers to take part from the hundreds
who apply.
Lustre is a key diary date for anyone interested in discovering
original pieces of jewellery, textiles, ceramics, glass, wood,
leather, furniture and metalwork. It's the perfect purchasing
opportunity for festive shoppers and serious collectors alike.
