Birmingham City Council's Human Resources department has
received a top national award for its BEST programme.
This year's Personnel Today Award for 'Employee Engagement' was
presented to Birmingham City Council for its BEST (Belief,
Excellence, Success, Trust) programme.
BEST standing for Belief, Excellence, Success and Trust is
an innovative employee engagement programme being led by Councillor
Alan Rudge, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Human Resources at
Birmingham City Council.
He comments: "I am delighted at the national recognition that
this project has received, this demonstrates that the approach
being taken through the BEST programme is working effectively. It
is also key that we have competed, and won, against private sector
companies in this category".
Councillor Rudge, along with Raffaela Goodby, Employee
Engagement Manager for Birmingham City Council and HR Director Andy
Albon accepted the award at the ceremony held at the Grosvenor
House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
Councillor Rudge added "We were delighted to be able to accept
this award on behalf of all of the employees in Birmingham City
Council who have contributed to the success of the BEST
programme.
"This award recognises the creativity, passion and innovation of
all of our BEST leaders, managers and teams, who have put our
citizens at the heart of everything we do, and used their BEST
workshops to improve the service that we deliver.
"The Personnel Today awards are the ideal opportunity to
showcase the work we are doing on engagement here in Birmingham, to
other councils across the UK, and to celebrate our employees'
success."
