An associate at a leading Nottingham firm of chartered
accountants has been appointed to the board of directors at the
Egalitarian Trust, which includes the Galleries of Justice Museum
and the National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL).
Kelly Boorman, associate at Smith Cooper on Haydn Road in the
city, has joined the board of directors at the museum, which uses
gruesome stories of the city's departed outlaws to educate children
about the law.
In her role as trustee on the board of directors, Kelly will be
assist with the financial management of both the museum and the
National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL). She will also
support the fundraising programme for the charity.
The Galleries of Justice Museum works alongside the NCCL to
preserve the site of Nottingham's old courthouse and county gaol
and provides a setting to develop young people's awareness of
citizenship, crime reduction, social and morale rights and
responsibilities.
The only museum of its kind in Europe, it tells the tales of
Nottingham's outlaws including Robin Hood and captures the city's
history through interactive tours, creative re-enactments, ghost
suppers, Sheriff's banquets murder mysteries and exhibitions.
The museum's latest exhibition marks the 25th Anniversary of the
miner's strike and examines the police's involvement in the miner's
strike and the plight of the miners.
For the first time in its history Scotland Yard's Black Museum
will be loaning objects to be used in this thought-provoking
exhibition, which aims to provide an understanding of how and why
violence escalated on the picket line.
Commenting on her appointment, Kelly said: "I am delighted
to be joining the board of directors at the Galleries of Justice
Museum. It is a fantastic opportunity to offer my financial
expertise to a local charity helping the community learn about the
law through Nottingham's fascinating criminal history."
