As recognised Investors in People, Lanyon Bowdler are delighted
to introduce a new solicitor in training to the firm, Elise
Hyland.
Elise commenced her route into law through training as a Legal
Executive both at Shrewsbury College and at home by way of distance
learning; she joined Lanyon Bowdler in 2001, her first role being a
junior conveyancing assistant in the property department. Through
development and training with Lanyon Bowdler, Elise was given more
responsibility and gradually she built her own case load, which
enabled her gain the experience she needed to qualify as a Fellow
of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) in 2006.
After gaining FILEX status, Elise went on to do the Common
Professional Exam, which non-law graduates take as a conversion
route into law. After passing that Elise enrolled on a Legal
Practice Course, which she has now completed. The Legal Practice
Course is for both law and non-law graduates which is taken after
completion of the CPE, and this is the next step to becoming a
solicitor. Elise completed both the CPE and LPC at Wolverhampton
University on a part time basis.
The lectures took place in the evenings which meant Elise could
continue with continuous employment within the legal environment
during the day, which is an essential part of the qualification
through the ILEX route. Elise is currently doing 12 months training
with Lanyon Bowdler in various departments to experience law in a
diversity of areas, before qualifying as a solicitor next year.
Elise comments that it has been a long, but rewarding route into
law, and has gained immense experience from her time training
through the ILEX route, but Elise says "I could not have done it
without the support of my family, friends and work colleagues.
Lanyon Bowdler have continued to support me along the way, for
which I am very grateful."
