National retailer Sleepmasters has opened a new store in
Stratford-upon-Avon following a fit-out to get it up and running
for Christmas trade.
The retailer signed a five-year lease on its trading site at the
corner of the Birmingham Road and Western Avenue in the autumn with
the Louis Group, a Stratford-based international property and
financial services company
Stratford law firm Lodders, acted for the landlord in the lease
negotiations and the agents were Tim Cox Associates and
Ramsdens.
Paul Mourton, an associate in the commercial property department
at Lodders said: "We were extremely pleased to be instrumental in
securing the presence of another major national retailer in the
town especially in this difficult economic climate for the
sector.
"We have a strong professional relationship with the property
services division of the Louis Group and this is another good
example of the success of our partnership with them in the
commercial property field.
"We think Sleepmasters has an excellent site with generous
provision for parking - which should give it a solid kick-start for
the Christmas season.
"This is another boost for shopping in Birmingham Road which is
now attracting business from a much wider area than just south
Warwickshire."
Hannes Cloete, chief executive of property services for the
Louis Group said:
"This was a highly important deal for us because of our
commitment to Stratford and the well-being of the local
economy.
"Although we have been in the town for the past four years we
only opened our own new headquarters in Timothy's Bridge Road in
July - so this contract was a milestone."
Phillip Williamson, for Sleepmasters' parent group Steinhoff
Holdings Ltd, said: "We were delighted to find such a good site in
Stratford-upon-Avon which we regard as a key centre now for the
retail sector in the southern part of the West Midlands."
