Northamptonshire-based Hellidon Shooting Association (HSA) has
raised a staggering £11,250 for the Warwickshire &
Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) following a recent
fundraising event.
The daylong charity event incorporated a clay shoot and black
tie dinner. James Shuckburgh, HSA Chairman and heir to the local
Shuckburgh country estate comments; "The event was a tremendous
success and I would like to thank everyone who helped with
sponsorship. It was fantastic to see local residents and businesses
coming together to raise such a generous amount of money for such a
worthwhile cause. Earlier this year, one of our club members had a
life threatening experience, WNAA came to his rescue, their skill
and speed saved his life. This is why the WNAA is such a worthwhile
charity to sponsor"
As part of the shoot, 34 teams totalling 136 people participated
in a 200 bird Pheasant Flush, a rapid fire competition testing not
only the shooters ability to reload but also their reactions and
accuracy. In addition to the main shooting event, there were
several other stands where people could try their hand at clay
pigeon shooting.
In the evening, the spectacular black tie dinner attracted over
470 guests who all, in the name of charity enjoyed a night of
champagne, dinner and dancing. During the dinner Eddie Bennett on
behalf of the winning team "Have'it" were rewarded for their
shooting prowess and presented with a silver Grouse Trophy. The
ticketed grand draw also took place with one lucky Hellidon
resident taking away a 4x4 all terrain quad bike worth
£4500.
The WNAA is a registered charity relying totally on public
donations, fundraising activities and sponsorship, and with an
annual basic running cost of over £1.5 million raising this
amount of cash is no small feat.
