Lincoln electrical contractor Brook & Mayo has something
extra to celebrate this Christmas as the family-run firm marks its
40th anniversary.
The anniversary is an important milestone for the leading
Lincolnshire electrical business which was originally set up in
1969 by David Brook and Terry Mayo, both ex-RAF Scampton and
Waddington electricians.
On leaving the armed forces in 1968 the duo began cleaning
windows but soon turned to repairing washing machines and steadily
progressed to offer a full domestic electrical installation
service.
Now run by Managing Director Nick Mayo (44), Terry's son, Brook
& Mayo offers everything from a full electrical design and
installation service to electrical maintenance and data cabling
across industrial, commercial, retail and residential
sectors.
The company continues to expand despite the current climate and
in 2008/2009 had a record £3.7 million turnover.
From small independent jobs through to £300k contract
wins, Brook & Mayo works with a range of clients including
Lincoln City Council, Kier Construction, Gelder Group, Lindum
Construction and Simons.
Nick Mayo said: "Forty years on from my father and David's
decision to start the company, it's fantastic to think that we've
built up a successful business that is still developing and
increasing its potential.
"We have expanded the services we offer and have made what we
offer completely bespoke, regardless of whether we are working for
an individual homeowner or a large public contractor.
"Our key concern has always been that our customers are 100%
happy with our work and we believe that's what makes us stand out
and has led, particularly over the last few years, to a period of
rapid expansion."
In the last three years alone Brook & Mayo has seen a 100%
growth in its workforce and currently has a 40-strong team of
highly skilled electricians and office-based staff operating from
the headquarters on Station Road, North Hykeham.
The company predominantly works within Lincolnshire and the East
Midlands but carries out work nationally on behalf of regular
clients and has recently worked in France to provide ongoing client
support.
Nick added: "We have made a concerted effort to ensure we are
one of the key companies considered for tender processes in our
region and have secured work with a range of high-profile private
and public sector contractors.
"It is through our determination and our good relationships with
such customers that we hope to continue our journey as a business
for the next 40 years."
