A Shropshire businessman with a boutique vineyard in South
Africa will be presenting some of his award-winning wines at a
special gourmet evening at Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham.
Rollo Gabb, the sales and marketing director of Journey's End in
Stellenbosch, has set up the event on November 12 at the hotel as
part of a series of gourmet evenings throughout the Midlands to
showcase some of the finest wines from his vineyard.
One of these gourmet evenings has already be en held at the
Hotel du Vin this summer which was a sell-out and extremely well
received.
Mr Gabb is working alongside local Shropshire wine distributors
Classic Wine Direct to strengthen the Journey's End brand across
the Midlands.
"I am hugely looking forward to returning to Hotel du Vin," said
Mr Gabb.
"Birmingham has such a good reputation for the quality of its
food and drink, and this is something I believe Journey's End
should be part of. Each carefully selected food course will be
matched to one or two Journey's End wines, along with a quick
explanation from me about the wines.
"Several top London restaurants are stocking our wines, but I am
very keen to raise awareness of Journey's End in my home county and
across the Midlands."
Top London restaurants such as Gordon Ramsay at Claridges,
L'Atelier, the National Portrait Gallery and Quo Vadis already
stock Journey's End wines.
Mr Gabb is a well known figure in the wine world as part of the
family which was behind the hugely successful importing company,
Western Wines.
The family bought the farm and vineyard, which is in the famous
wine-producing area of Stellenbosch in South Africa, in 1995 and it
has since gone on to gain a reputation for top quality at
affordable prices.
• Tickets are £55.00 and the event starts at 8:00pm.
