Law firm Weightmans, which has offices in Birmingham and
Leicester, has been named as a Key Provider on the London Boroughs
Legal Alliance (LBLA) consortium's legal advisory panel.
The consortium sees the London boroughs of Camden, Hammersmith
& Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and the Royal Borough of
Kensington & Chelsea pool their resources in a move to save
£1.4m a year.
Although 16 firms were chosen by the six councils to provide
legal advice on diverse areas such as community care, commercial
litigation, regeneration and local government law, five have been
given "Key Advisor" status. Out of a possible 25 areas of
expertise, Weightmans was invited to advise the consortium on
17.
Director of the Public Sector Group at Weightmans Andrew Cooper
commented: "Competition for a place on this panel was significant
and being asked to advise across almost all possible areas is a
testament to the breadth and quality of our offering."
Weightmans was ranked in the top tier in the 2009 Legal 500
rankings for local government work.
The firm will hold the contract with the LBLA for an initial
three year period.
