A partner at leading Worcestershire law firm, Thursfields
recently won the first ever Worcester Half Marathon which was held
to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.
The 13 mile half marathon was held at Top Barn, Holt, along
marked fields and footpaths with 202 runners taking part in the
event. Mark Pittaway, Head of Thursfields' Commercial Litigation
Team completed the course in 1 hour 20 minutes 41 seconds.
Thursfields donated £250 to St Richard's Hospice and together
the competitors all helped the organisers to raise an estimated
£10,000.00 for the charity.
St Richard's Hospice Fundraising Manager, Tricia Cavell
said, "We were extremely pleased with the number of
participants that took part in the half marathon which was held to
celebrate our 25th anniversary year. The hospice, at Wildwood
Drive, Worcester, contains an In-patient Unit, Day Hospice, Home
Care Team, Counselling and Bereavement support, Social Work,
Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Complementary Therapies,
Hospice at Home, Snowdrop Group, Chaplaincy, 24 hour telephone
support helpline, and the Education & Resource Centre.
"All the services are free and each year St Richard's cares for
in the region of 1,800 patients and families. This year St
Richard's needs to raise £4.8m to provide all the
services."
Mark Pittaway is a keen runner and recently ran in and won the
Round the Rock 10k race on Portland in Dorset. He also competed
this year in the London Marathon. Commenting on his recent run he
said, "I am delighted that Thursfields were able to support
such a worthy cause."
