Keynote speaker Simon will be joined on the day by
Nottingham-based marketing consultant Susan Hallam, whose keynote
presentation will focus on '30 Ways to Promote Your Business on the
Internet'.
During a fun, fast-paced session, Susan will offer
easy-to-understand advice on how to promote tourism businesses
on-line, attract more visitors to websites and clinch more internet
sales.
"We are delighted that such a high-profile industry spokesman as
Simon Calder has agreed to join us at our Tourism Conference to
share his experience and expertise - especially at a time when
margins are tight and businesses need to be creative to survive,"
said Jim Oribine, Head of Industry Services at VPD&D.
"Both he and Susan Hallam have a wealth of insight and knowledge
that is invaluable to anyone working in the tourism sector - from
accommodation operators, attractions and activity providers to
retailers and catering businesses.
"As well as giving delegates an insight into how the Visit Peak
District & Derbyshire team is working to improve the area's
tourism economy, it also offers scope to network and share best
practice - a once-a-year opportunity that shouldn't be missed."
The day will also include a series of industry briefings on a
range of topics - including how to develop a 'greener' business,
VisitBritain's One Step Ahead access scheme and the role of tourist
information centres across the Peak District & Derbyshire - as
well as Guestlink computer system updates.
The cost - including a restaurant lunch, refreshments and a
choice of up to three briefing sessions - is £30 per
delegate, including VAT. Bookings should be made using the on-line
booking form available at www.visitpeakdistrict.com/industry, and
should be submitted by Friday October 30.
