The Institute of Directors is to hold a breakfast seminar in the
Black Country aimed at demystifying some of the buzzwords of the IT
industry while providing a glimpse of the way work will be
organised in the future.
The seminar, to be held 7.30am on Tuesday November 10 at Walsall
Football Club, will include a discussion led by experts Adrian
Clinton-Watkins of GGR - a specialist managed network solutions
company - and Human Resources consultant David Tyler.
John Phillips, regional director of the IoD said: "We will deal
principally with the complexities of remote working and explain
how, with the right support, it can be introduced into business
securely and used to improve productivity and competitive edge.
"The IT industry is notorious for creating buzz words and
acronyms but these do not explain what the technology is and how it
can work for business.
"Two perfect examples of buzzwords that many of us don't really
understand are cloud computing and remote working, yet an
appreciation of what they can offer could transform a business.
"Using technology to enable staff to work anywhere at any time
can be liberating for a business, as well as opening up
employment opportunities for previously marginalised groups like
parents of young children, the disabled or those living in remote
areas.
"New ways of working can also reduce a company's carbon
footprint.
"This is not a normal seminar, but an opportunity to join in the
debate on remote working and get your questions answered by two
leading experts in this area."
