Businesses in the West Midlands are being urged to take
advantage of an invaluable opportunity to meet top level trade
experts on 11 Asian countries.
UK Trade & Investment and the Asia Task Force are organising
a major event to help firms beat the economic downturn by winning a
larger share of Asia's growing markets.
Entitled "Doing Business in Asia: Meet the Experts", the event
is taking place at Birmingham's ICC on Friday 4 December from
8.30am-3pm.
UK Trade & Investment's Staffordshire international trade
team, based at North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce, who lead
for the West Midlands region on South East Asia, will be assisting
with the co-ordination of the event.
Asia Task Force Co-Chair Lord Powell will be joined by senior
business leaders and 17 UK Trade & Investment directors of
trade from British Embassies across Asia, who will give the latest
briefings on the business climate and practical advice on how to
succeed in these markets.
Despite tough global conditions last year, UK exports of goods
alone to Asia totalled £21 billion.
Lord Powell said: "Power is shifting East in the global economy
and now is the time for UK exporters to stay ahead of the
competition by expanding into Asia.
"This event is an exciting opportunity for West Midlands firms
to find out about the latest developments affecting business in
Asia today."
Companies will be able to take part in a series of interactive
sessions on China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,
Singapore, South Korea, Southern China and Hong Kong, Taiwan,
Thailand and Vietnam and find out more about how UK Trade &
