A Harvey Ingram team of female fund-raisers clocked up more than
£2,500 for charity at the Ladies' Driving Challenge
2009.
Teams of female motorists were invited to drive a range of
vehicles including a fire engine, various trucks and tractors,
around a five-mile circuit at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, near
Lutterworth. They also got to grips with the site's fabulous
purpose-built, off-road course in a 4x4 vehicle.
As a result of sponsorship, related in-house fund-raising and
client contributions, the £2,500 will now be split equally
between the British Red Cross and the Fire Fighters' Charity.
British Red Cross senior fund-raiser Mary Morgan said: "I'd like
to say a big thank you to Harvey Ingram staff for their continued
support and superb contribution to this annual event. The Ladies'
Driving Challenge was once again a huge success and proved to be a
hugely enjoyable day for all concerned."
The British Red Cross is involved in almost every community in
the UK and overseas, responding to fires and floods, as well as
providing first aid and training for thousands of people. The Fire
Fighters' Charity supports the thousands of British fire fighters
who put their lives on the line for the public every year.
Harvey Ingram volunteers swelled the charities' coffers further
by cooking up a storm with a string of in-house Come Dine With
Me-style fund-raising lunches, which saw Indian, Italian and
Australian cuisine dished up for staff and visitors.
Team organiser Paula Fowle said: "As ever, the event was a
storming success and we're really pleased with the support we had
this year. It was great fun and it's no surprise that its
popularity continues to grow. How often do you get a chance to get
behind the wheel of such an unusual mix of vehicles?"
