department which is running the event on Insider Fraud later this
month.
The clues that lead to the discovery of an employee who defrauds
his employer will be under investigation at a breakfast briefing
event in Birmingham, hosted by law firm Challinors.
The Employee 'Insider' Fraud Investigation seminar will focus on
the investigation issues and steps to take if a business discovers
employee fraud, which has seen a rise of 69 percent in 2009
alone.
Guest speaker is Andrew Whittaker, Head of Counter Fraud
Training at Teceris, the corporate and complex loss adjusting and
claims management organisation. Andrew is an Accredited Counter
Fraud and Security Management Specialist who will detail some
of the clues to insider fraud business managers and owners should
look out for.
Challinors specialist Fraud and Asset Recovery lawyers Arun
Chauhan and Mark Kenkre will highlight some of the key warning
signs and danger areas of insider fraud that employers should learn
to recognise, as well as some of the inventive tactics used by
employees in insider fraud. They shall also detail the systems that
a business should put in place to detect and investigate
incidents and implement an appropriate incident response.
Arun Chauhan explains: "Andrew Whittaker worked for the NHS
Counter Fraud and Security Management Service as Deputy Director of
Training Skills for seven years. He has over 30 years
experience of countering fraud, both operationally and in a
training environment and will provide a unique insight into how an
insider fraud investigation can evolve to lead to prosecution of
the perpetrator.
"Insider fraud has seen an increase of 69 percent in 2009 alone,
and the recession has doubtless played a part in this, as employees
look to other means of sustaining the good lifestyle they enjoyed
prior to the downturn. Employee fraud takes a number of forms, from
falsifying invoices, redirection of computer fund transactions,
procurement collusion, to company credit card misuse and false
expense claims. This session will provide an invaluable insight for
local businesses by looking at how to investigate, identify and
protect against these inventive practices."
The third in Challinors' Fraud & Asset Recovery Department
series of Breakfast Briefings this year, the Insider Fraud event
takes place at Hotel du Vin, Birmingham, on Thursday 12th November
2009. For more information and to reserve a place at the event,
