Director of Football at Nottingham County, Sven-Göran
Eriksson injected some excitement into the proceedings when he
dropped into a charity's annual general meeting (AGM) being held at
the club's conference facilities recently.
The former England manager was spotted in the building by staff
of Nottingham-based Carers Federation and was asked if he could
spare a few minutes to meet people. Mr Eriksson kindly obliged,
spending half an hour talking to some of the 200 or so attendees,
signing autographs and posing for photos.
Julia Tabreham, chief executive at the Carers Federation, says:
"Mr Eriksson's appearance created and an unexpected but pleasant
interlude in the AGM proceedings. Suddenly the Green Paper on
'Shaping the Future of Care Together' went to the back of
everyone's minds and instead staff were snapping away with cameras
and hunting around for paper and pen for Mr Eriksson's sign.
"This is the third year that we have used the conference
facilities at the club for our AGM and we have always enjoyed good
service but the 2009 event will be hard to beat!"
The Carers Federation was established in 1992 and runs a number
of projects designed to support some of the most vulnerable and
'less heard' people in our society. The largest of these is the
Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS), a free,
confidential and independent service open to anyone who wants to
make a complaint about their NHS funded treatment or
care.
