CHRISTMAS has come early for a Ripley company that provides
temporary buildings.
Transformaspace, based in Derby Road, started work at the
weekend to build a 'warehouse' for three months for a retail
electrical supplier at a distribution centre in Newark to cope with
the Christmas demand.
The building measures 125 m long and 40m wide and is in two
linked sections, providing 5,000 sq metres of storage space. It is
fully clad and sealed to protect it from the elements.
It will take a team of workers two weeks to complete the
structure of the building, the largest that Transformaspace has
supplied since it started in business more than a year ago.
Tom Alldread, commercial director of Transformaspace, said: "We
are particularly pleased because we only had the commission last
Tuesday and we were able to have the building despatched from our
suppliers in France immediately.
"It really is a rush job and we are hoping that it will meet the
commissioning company's urgent requirements and so help people to
get the presents they want over the festive season."
