RH keeps runners on the go

For the third year in a row, RH Freight, the UK's leading European freight specialist, will be providing vital support to runners in the 'Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running' on 13 September.

RH, which has its headquarters and a major hub in Nottingham, has responsibility for distributing all of the bottled drinks and tables to the ten drinks stations across the race route on the morning of the event. The refreshments are vitally important for the 10,000 plus runners who will be taking part in what the organisers are hoping will be 'the biggest and best event the UK has to offer!'

RH's staff will have an early start on the morning of the race as they begin setting up the tables and water bottles from 3am. They will be using three 18 tonne trucks and forklifts to transport and drop the 19 pallets of water and dozens of trestle tables to the stations, which are situated at various points along the course of the half and full marathons.

After the event starts, the RH team will also be helping with the clean up operation, with trucks following the cleaning team and collecting empty bottles and litter from the route.

In addition, RH is also supplying a forklift truck for use at the main Marathon site on Victoria Embankment for the period leading up to the race, in order to assist with the movement of equipment and boxes around the site.

Nigel Baxter, Director at RH Freight commented: "We're really pleased to be supporting this prestigious local event for the third year in a row. Everyone involved in the Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running works hard each year to make it a success and we're proud to be a part of that. It's certainly a long day for us but it's worth it."

Chris Sumner, Events Director at Sweatshop (organisers of the marathon) added: "Working with RH Freight has become an integral part of this event and they play a vital role. Distributing the water around the course is one of the most important parts of the race and with over 60,000 bottles to be delivered we need to know they're going to get to the right place on time. RH Freight takes all the worry out of this for us, which is a huge help on a busy day."
