Business owners in Lincolnshire and the surrounding area are
being urged to think about what would happen to their company if
they, or one of their partners, were no longer around.
The 'Protecting You, Your Loved Ones, and Your Business' seminar
is being hosted by Lincoln chartered accountants Nicholsons on
Thursday, 24 September.
It will offer advice on the steps business owners can take to
ensure their firm survives if a partner, or other integral member
of the team dies, or is unable to work for whatever reason.
Nicholsons independent financial advisor Gail Paton said: "This
is something no-one likes to think about, but just as anyone with a
family should consider making a will to protect their loved ones,
anyone with a financial interest in a business should consider
whether the company could survive the death or incapacity of
themselves or another senior figure.
"It is surprising how many people we speak to who've given no
consideration at all to this issue, and if there is no protection
in place, it could conceivably result in a perfectly healthy
company going out of business owing to tax complications, disputes
over ownership or just the sudden loss of expertise."
The event will take place at Nicholsons' offices in The Point,
Weaver Road, Lincoln, from 5.45pm to 7pm, with arrivals starting at
5.15pm. Refreshments will be provided. For more information or
