With the game fair season now in full swing, all eyes are now on
the premier event in the countryside calendar. Attracting over
87,000 visitors, the Midland Game Fair offers a huge range of
attractions and areas of interest including the world's most
comprehensive Airgun Expo, Gunmakers Row, Carrilon Fishing Village,
Gamekeepers Row and the Countryman Fairs Food Village, as well as
playing host to the UKs largest portfolio of Championship Grand
Finals.
The Main Arena will showcase some of the finest demonstrations
and displays from acts such as the Band of Brigade of Ghurkhas,
Jive Pony, Cyril the Squirrel and his Terrier antics, Ye Olde
Redtail Falconry and Gus Dermody of the BBC's one Man and his Dog,
who will be showing his sheep herding skills for the last time
before retirement.
The Midland Game Fair is renowned for offering the UK's most
comprehensive Gunmakers Row. At over 1 mile long The Midland Game
Fair's Gunmaker's Row combines with internationally acclaimed home
of European airgun sport, Airgun Expo, to offer by far the finest
showcase of shooting related equipment in the country.
Taking centre stage on Gunmakers Row is the grand final of the
Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting Championship. Here
eighty of the UK's top shots will battle it out for the sport's
biggest prize, a Mitsubishi L200 Trojan worth £20,183.00.
The Game Gourmets Paradise with fine foods from around the
world to tempt your taste buds and whet your appetite. As
ever, traditional rural fayre including wild boar pies, steaks,
sausages, dry cured bacon & hams, farm made cheeses, real
farmhouse cider, seafood, stuffed poultry, and smoked fish will all
be available to sample.
If you prefer sweet to savoury, you will be spoilt for choice
amongst the exhibitors selling traditional liquorice, candy sticks,
toffee, fudge and frozen yoghurts. And to add the finishing
touch, you can splash out on a Celtic liqueur, Gaelic whisky, or a
select Californian wine.
If you want to try your hand at something different, renowned
Game Chef Mark Gilchrist will be on hand to offer advice and tips
on how to source and prepare fresh game. You will also be able to
try his legendary venison sausage rolls, game pies and rabbit
pasta, if there's any left!
Throughout 2009 the acclaimed Countryman Fairs Food Festival has
become increasingly popular at each of their spring and summer
events and is a not to be missed feature of the Midland Game Fair.
