Climbers from Mansell Construction Services are on a high after
donating more than £14,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team from Mansell's Stourbridge-based Western region
successfully completed last year's Three Peaks Challenge, scaling
Britain's highest peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
That achievement, combined with other fund raising efforts by
Mansell staff including an It's a Knockout event, a chariot
relay across the UK, dress-down days, charity walks and selling
hand made greetings cards, meant that Macmillan Cancer Support was
£14,439 better off. The cash was handed over to Macmillan
fund raising manager Sharon Battersby by Mansell regional managing
director Steve Davies, who took part in the Three Peaks
Challenge.
As part of a year-long fundraising drive to mark the company's
100th anniversary, Mansell's charity fund raising efforts by its
Stourbridge office raised more than £66,000 in 2008, and more
than £1 million nationwide. As well as Macmillan Cancer
Support, money has been handed over to the Birmingham Institute for
the Deaf, Cancer Support Dudley, Mary Stevens Hospice and the Fire
Fighters Charity.
