Nottingham - based construction consultants WT Partnership has
been appointed to work on a leading zero-carbon residential project
in Derby.
WT Partnership will be project managing the scheme, which is
being developed by Derby housing provider Derwent Living - and is
understood to be the first such scheme of its kind in the area.
WT Partnership was picked for the project because of its
previous experience on leading sustainable projects including
working on the Greenwich Millennium Village and more locally for
the University of Nottingham and Broxtowe Borough Council.
WT Partnership was appointed to the project following a lengthy
selection process, Steve Brown, director of WT Partnership said:
"We are all thrilled to be a part of this innovative residential
project with Derwent Living. It's a very exciting project which
will require careful planning and research and we look forward to
the challenge."
Paul Casey, development director at Derwent Living said: "As an
organisation we are committed to continually coming up with ways to
reduce our carbon footprint. This is a landmark for us, as it is
the first scheme of this kind that we have developed and is a
massive step towards achieving our aim to complete 20 carbon
neutral homes over the next few years."
This comes as part of a government initiative which states all
new houses must be zero-carbon by 2016.
The initial process will see WT Partnership leading a fact
finding review with the Project Stakeholders working party,
including visiting other schemes, facilitating workshops and
putting in place a careful planned process for the project.
