The presenter of the BBC TV programme, Dragons Den, is to be
honoured by Coventry University during the annual degree ceremony
awards in November.
Evan Davies, a familiar face (and voice to millions of Radio 4
listeners of the Today programme) will be awarded an Honorary DBA
(Doctor Business Administration) in recognition of his services to
financial journalism.
Evan Davis took up his presenting role on the BBC Radio 4 Today
programme in April 2008. He also presents a weekly business
discussion programme, "The Bottom Line".
For the six-and-a-half years prior to working on the Today
programme, Evan was the BBC's Economics Editor, the most senior
economics reporter in the corporation.
He was promoted to that role after working as an economics
correspondent for the BBC and as economics editor of the Newsnight
programme on BBC Two in the Nineties. He joined the BBC in
1993.
Before becoming a broadcaster Evan worked as an economist for
the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the London Business School's
Centre for Business Strategy.
Professor Madeleine Atkins, Vice Chancellor at Coventry
University said:
"I am delighted that Evan has accepted our offer of an Honorary
DBA. His contribution to financial journalism and the way he
continues to make the most complicated issues accessible has not
only made him a household name but also a respected authority on
his subject."
Evan Davies will be receiving his Honorary DBA on Monday 23
November at 12.30pm during the degree ceremony for Coventry School
of Art and Design (CSAD) at Coventry Cathedral.
The other recipients of Honorary Degrees for 2009 will be
announced at a later date.
